lies and believe they can get away with it. We are taking legal action against the magazine.”
As the summer 2003 transfer window approached Manchester United appeared keen to sell a four-year contract as the latest of the galáctico signings by club president Florentino Pérez. The news came as a bitter pill to the newly elected Barça president Joan Laporta who based much of facility where he was handed the Real shirt by club legend Alfredo di Stéfano. Beckham had worn the number seven shirt for Manchester United and England, he was unable to wear it at Madrid as it was currently assigned to club captain Raúl. The Englishman decided to wear number 23
In the week before Beckham presentation, Real named Carlos Queiroz as their new head coach, meaning that Beckham got reunited with a familiar face upon arriving to Madrid since Queiroz spent the previous season as Alex Ferguson's assistant at Manchester United. In late July 2003, the club went on a tour of the Far East as part of the pre-season training, but also to cash in on Beckham's huge marketing appeal in Asia where he enjoyed tremendous following. Real's brand recognition in that part of the globe was already well established as the club made financially successful trips to Asia during previous off-seasons, however the presence of global marketing icon such as Beckham made this particular tour a financial smash for los Shortly after his Real switch, Beckham also dropped his longtime agent Tony Stephens of SFX Europe who guided him to and through super-stardom and was one of the key players that engineered Beckham's move from Manchester to Madrid. Beckham signed on with Simon Fuller and his company 19 Entertainment that already managed the career of David's wife Victoria. also appointed close friend Terry Byrne to be his personal manager. In late August 2003, Real Madrid won the Spanish Super Cup over two legs versus RCD Mallorca, with Beckham scoring the final goal in a 3–0 return leg win at home, thus setting the stage for the start of the league season. Playing on a star-laden team along with Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo, Luis Figo, Roberto Carlos, Raúl, Iker Casillas, etc., Beckham didn't require much time to settle in, scoring five times in his first 16 matches (including a goal less than three minutes into his La Liga debut). Queiroz mostly favoured the adaptable 5-3-2 formation with two fullbacks Michel Salgado and Roberto Carlos often joining the attack down the wings, while Beckham quickly found a regular playing spot on the right of the 3-man midfield alongside Zidane and Figo.Real Madrid were runners-up in the Copa del Rey, were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League at the quarter-final stage and finished the league season in fourth place, meaning the team, whose president Pérez expected them to win either the Spanish league or the Champions League each season, did not match expectations. In July 2004, while Beckham was in pre-season training in Spain, an intruder scaled a wall at the Beckham home while carrying a can of petrol. Victoria and their children were in the house at the time, but security guards apprehended the man before he reached the house. The league season began with new head coach José Antonio Camacho behind the bench, but he ended up lasting only three matches, handing in his resignation following week 3 fixture as Real dropped to eighth spot in the La Liga standings. Camacho's assistant Mariano García Remón took over on temporary basis as Real leadership scrambled to find a permanent replacement. Beckham made more headlines on 9 October 2004 when he admitted intentionally fouling Ben Thatcher in an England match against Wales in order to get himself booked. Beckham was due to receive a one-match suspension for his next caution, and had picked up an injury, which he knew would keep him out of England's next match, so he deliberately fouled Thatcher in order to serve his suspension in a match that he would have had to miss anyway. The Football Association asked Beckham for an explanation of his actions and he admitted that he had "made a mistake" and apologised. He was sent off shortly afterwards, this time in a league match for Real Madrid against Valencia CF. Having received a yellow card, he was judged to have sarcastically applauded the referee and was given a second yellow card, causing an automatic dismissal, although the suspension was cancelled on appeal two days later.

Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite (Portuguese pronunciation: [ʁiˈkaɾdu iˈzɛksõ duˈsɐ̃tus 22 April 1982), commonly known as Kaká, is a Brazilian football midfielder who currently plays for Spanish La Liga club Real Madrid the Brazilian national team. He also holds an Italian passport, which enables him to play as an EU player. He started his footballing career at the age of eight, when he began playing for a local club. At the time, he also played tennis, and it was not until he moved on to São Paulo FC and signed his first professional contract with the club at the age of fifteen that he chose to focus on football. In 2003 he joined A.C. Milan for a fee of €8.5 million. While at Milan, Kaká won the Ballon d'Or and FIFA World Player of the Year awards in 2007. After his success with Milan, Kaká joined Real Madrid for a world record fee of $89 million, smashing the previous record of Zidane, million. In addition to his contributions on the pitch, Kaká is known for his humanitarian work. In 2004, by the time of his appointment, he became the youngest ambassador of the United Nations' World Food Programme. The steady European interest in Kaká culminated in his signing with Italian club AC Milan in 2003 for a fee of €8.5 million, described in retrospect as "peanuts" by club owner Silvio Berlusconi. Within a month, he cracked the starting lineup, and his Serie A debut was in a 2–0 win over Ancona. He scored 10 goals in 30 appearances that season, as Milan won the Scudetto and the UEFA Super Cup.Kaká was a part of the five-man midfield in the 2004–05 season, usually playing in a withdrawn role behind striker Andriy Shevchenko. He scored seven goals in 36 domestic appearances as Milan finished runner-up in the Scudetto race. Despite Milan losing the 2004–05 Champions League final to Liverpool on penalties, he was nonetheless was voted the best midfielder of the tournament.2005–06 saw Kaká score his first hat-tricks in domestic competition. On 9 April 2006, he scored his first Rossoneri hat-trick against Chievo; all three goals were scored in the second half. The following season, he scored his first Champions League hat-trick in a 4–1 group stage win over the Belgian side Anderlecht.Andriy Shevchenko's departure to Chelsea for the 2006–07 season allowed Kaká to become the focal point of Milan's offense as he alternated between the midfield and striker positions. He finished as the top scorer in the 2006–07 Champions League campaign with ten goals. One of them helped the Rossoneri eliminate Celtic in the quarter-finals on a 1–0 aggregate, and three others proved fatal for Manchester United in the semi-finals, despite Milan losing the first leg.Kaká added the Champions League title to his trophy case for the first time when Milan defeated Liverpool on 23 May 2007. Though he went scoreless, he won a free kick that led to the first of Filippo Inzaghi's two goals, and provided the assist for the second. For his stellar play throughout the competition, he was voted the Vodafone Fans' Player of the Season in a poll of over 100,000 UEFA.com visitors. On 30 August, Kaká was named by UEFA as both the top forward of the 2006–07 Champions League season and UEFA Club Footballer of the Year.He played his 200th career match with Milan in a 1–1 home draw with Catania on 30 September, and on 5 October, he was named the 2006–07 FIFPro World Player of the Year. On 2 December 2007, Kaká became the eighth Milan player to win the Ballon d'Or, as he finished with a decisive 444 votes, long ahead of runner-up Cristiano Ronaldo. He signed a contract extension through 2013 with Milan on February 29, 2008.Due to his contributions on and off the pitch, Time magazine named Kaká in the Time 100, a list of the world's 100 most influential people, on 2 May. On 14 October, he cast his footprints into the Estádio do Maracanã's sidewalk of fame, in a section dedicated to the memory of the country's top players. He won the honor again in 2009.BBC reported on 13 January 2009 that Manchester City made a bid for Kaká for over £100 million. Milan director Umberto Gandini replied that Milan would only discuss the matter if Kaká and Manchester City agreed to personal terms. initially responded by telling reporters he wanted to "grow old" at Milan and dreamed of captaining the club one day, but later said, "If Milan want to sell me, I’ll sit down and talk. I can say that as long as the club don’t want to sell me, I'll definitely stay." On 19 January, Silvio Berlusconi announced that Manchester City had officially ended their bid after a discussion between the clubs, and that Kaká would remain with Milan. supporters had protested outside the club headquarters earlier that evening, and later chanted outside Kaká's home, where he saluted them by flashing his jersey outside a window.

This sterile stalemate will not linger long in the memory. But it might just be remembered as the day Sam Allardyce unveiled an exciting new Premier League talent.Big Sam threw 19-year-old Junior Hoilett into his full top flight debut at the KC Stadium - and the kid from Canada stole the showNot too difficult, that, on a dismal day on Humberside, but Hoilett at least lifted the gloom with a dazzling displaAnd, afterwards, Ewood Park boss Allardyce was justifiably full of praise for the gifted teenagerHe enthused:"This kid has a very bright future and I like him a lot. He showed his quality out there, and he has the bottle to produce at the highest level"He has got bags of ability and pace to burn. All he needs to do is work on getting his final ball a little bit better, but he can contribute a lot that's for sure"I thought we had the chances to sneak a win, but we were not clinical enough in front of goal"I also thought it was a definite penalty when Nikola Kalinic had his legs whipped from under him in the 67th minute.Hull boss Phil Brown also thought his side were denied a certain spot-kick on 76 minutes when Rovers centre-back Chris Samba seemed to trip Jozy AltidoreBrown said:"On a good day that decision would have gone our way, but I am not going to make a big issue out of i"And,if I am honest, maybe our performance was worthy of a clean sheet but not all three point"It was a scrappy game and Blackburn will say they deserved to get something out of it It was important for us not to lose with games against Arsenal and Manchester United coming up.Allardyce opted for a seat in the stand rather than a place in the dug-out, and he was not a bad judgeBecause the further away you were from looking at this awful spectacle, the betterThe first-half, in particular, was woeful - a constant stream of mistakes and misplaced passes by two teams who are desperate to pull clear of a relegation dog-fightIt was mostly down to the lively and inventive Hoilett to provide a shaft of entertainment on a bitterly cold Humberside afternoonThe teenager engaged himself in an absorbing duel with Paul McShane, and the Tigers Republic of Ireland international right-back did not always look comfortable with the challenge he was up againstIn fact, it ook Hoilett only until the eighth minute to get the measure of his marker for the first time as he teed-up Benni McCarthy for a low drive across Boaz Myhill and into the far bottom corner of the net. Unfortunately for Rovers, the effort was ruled out for offsideHoilett was again the provider 12 minutes later when he set-up Vince Grella to drill a rising 20-yarder just past the angle of post and barSandwiched in between came City's best opening before half-time. George Boateng put Craig Fagan cleasr of the Blackburn defence, but keeper Paul Robinson dashed from his line to brilliantly block the striker's low driveDeposed England No1 Robbo has been in prime form this season, and he pulled out another top-notch save to deny Stephen Hunt six minutes before the breakThe fare was not much better after the break although Nikola Kalanic, on as sub for McCarthy in the 59th minute, at least managed to liven up proceedings a bitKalonic launched two decent strikes on goal to briefly relieve the tedium, while Tigers wide-man Richard Garcia should have done better than shoot straight at Robinson from eight yards on the hour..Rovers

All over Japan, millions of people are shedding tears over their tatami mats. No, the tuna (maguro) population has not become extinct. Thank goodness, I mean could you imagine?
